Privacy & Cookie Policy

This page explains what data Study Phrasal Verbs handles, which outside services receive it, and why. You can use every lesson and quiz without an account and without giving us your name or email address.
1. What stays in your browser
Your lesson progress, how many practice sessions you have finished, your light or dark theme, and how many feedback messages you have sent are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. We never receive them, so we cannot see or restore them. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
2. What you send us through our forms
Both forms on the site deliver their messages to our email inbox through EmailJS, an email delivery service. EmailJS passes the message on and handles it under its own privacy policy. Nothing is sent until you press the send button.
Contact form. Sends the name, email address and message you type. We use them only to read your message and reply to you.
Practice feedback form. Sends your star rating and comment, together with the topic, the practice mode and the page you were on. It does not ask for your name or email. We use it to find lessons that need fixing. Please do not put personal details in the comment.
3. Analytics and advertising by Google
We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics sets cookies and records things such as the pages you open, how long you stay, your device and browser, how you reached the site, and your approximate location worked out from your IP address. When you finish practice questions, we also send the topic, the practice mode, your score and how long the round took. We look at these as totals to see which lessons people use and where they struggle. They do not tell us who you are.
We also show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads and measure them, and may use your visits to this and other websites to choose which ads you see. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, turn off personalised ads in My Ad Center, or block Google Analytics with the opt-out browser add-on.
When you first visit, a cookie banner asks for your choice. Until you choose, visitors from the European Economic Area start with analytics and advertising cookies switched off. If you choose Deny, the site tells Google Tag Manager to keep them off, and your practice results are never sent to Google Analytics. Your choice is saved in a cookie called CookieConsent. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
4. Error reports and hosting
Sentry. If a page crashes, Sentry receives a technical report: the error, the page, and your browser and device. We use it to fix bugs. We do not record your sessions.
Vercel hosts the site, and Cloudflare provides the network in front of it and protection against attacks. Like any web host, they process your IP address to deliver pages to you.
Each service handles data under its own policy: Google, EmailJS, Sentry, Vercel and Cloudflare.
5. Your rights
If you live in the EU, the UK or California, the law gives you the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to ask us to delete it. The only personal data we hold ourselves is what you send through the contact form. For data collected by Google, Sentry or the other services above, you can also use the tools in their policies.
6. Links to other websites
Some pages link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies before you share anything with them.
7. Contact us
To ask about this policy or to use your rights, write to us through the contact form.
